14-day rent demand notice (NY landlord)

Before a landlord can bring a nonpayment proceeding in New York, they generally must serve a written 14-day demand for rent. This notice must be served properly — review the service rules or consult counsel.

You are required to pay the total amount due within FOURTEEN (14) DAYS of service of this notice, or to surrender possession of the premises.

If you fail to pay or surrender within 14 days, the landlord may commence a summary proceeding to recover possession and the rent due.
