CertRent is a free platform that helps Los Angeles renters build a verified renter profile and share it with landlords through a single, secure link. Instead of emailing pay stubs, bank statements, and PDFs to every listing you apply for, you verify your information once and control who sees it. For LA landlords and property managers, CertRent means a cleaner, pre-verified applicant packet, less back-and-forth, and fewer doctored documents to worry about.

Frequently asked questions
Is CertRent really free for renters?
Yes. Creating and sharing a verified renter profile is free for renters. CertRent's aim is to reduce duplicate application costs, including the screening fees California law already caps under Civil Code section 1950.6.
Can I use CertRent without a Social Security number?
Yes. CertRent supports ITIN holders and does not require an SSN. California's AB 291 also protects tenants from immigration-status-based intimidation during the rental process.
Will CertRent raise my credit score?
No. CertRent does not promise any credit-score change. It documents your verified identity, income, and rent-payment history so you can present a stronger, honest application. Separately, AB 2747 (effective April 1, 2025) requires many landlords to offer optional rent reporting.
Do LA landlords have to accept my CertRent profile?
Landlords are not required to use CertRent, but California law (Civil Code section 1950.1, expanded by AB 2559) encourages accepting a reusable tenant screening report voluntarily, and a ready-made verified profile gives you a strong basis to ask them to skip a duplicate fee.
Is my bank data safe?
Bank connections are read-only and used only to verify income and payment history. Your information is shared solely through the secure links you choose to generate, and you control who receives them.
Does CertRent replace following LA tenant laws?
No. CertRent is an educational verification tool, not legal advice or a compliance service. Landlords and renters should still follow City of Los Angeles, LA County, and California rules, including source-of-income protections under SB 329 and SB 267.
