CertRent handles sensitive information — identity and bank-verified facts — so we designed it to collect the minimum and expose the least. Here's exactly how.
We never store your banking login
You connect your bank through Plaid, the same service used by leading banking and finance apps. You enter your bank credentials directly with Plaid — CertRent never sees or stores your username or password.
Bank access is read-only
We can confirm your rent payments and income. We cannot move money, and we don't have access to do so.
Trusted, regulated providers
Identity is verified by Didit, bank data by Plaid, and e-signatures by SignWell — each under contract and used only for the verification you request. Property ownership is checked against public New York City records (ACRIS/PLUTO).
Encryption & minimal collection
Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted, and we collect only what a given verification needs. We handle financial data consistent with the GLBA Safeguards Rule and New York's SHIELD Act.
You control every share
Landlords see verified results — not your raw bank transactions or ID images. You decide who gets a link, and you can revoke it at any time.
Delete anytime
You can remove any verification or delete your entire profile from your settings, or by emailing info@certrent.com.
We never sell your data
Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your profile exists to help you — full stop.
